Research methods and academic essay
15.0 ECTS creditsThe course comprises two modules:
Module 1 Research Methods, 7.5 ECTS cr
Students acquire knowledge of the research process and its various steps and problems of method in relation to investigations in media and communication studies. Introduction to different methods is provided on the basis of all the step in the process. The emphasis is on research design and methods for data collection and presentation of results rather than on analysis. Ethical issues relevant to research and investigations in media and communication studies are treated throughout. Instruction is based on exercises and practical applications.
Module 2 Independent Project 7.5 ECTS cr
Students develop abilities to carry out a research project independently by writing an essay in a chosen problem area. Special emphasis is on research design and methods application. Supervision is only provided for the course duration. Re-registered students are offered supervision if circumstances permit.
