Learning and development
30.0 ECTS creditsThe course builds on previous course content and introduces new areas such as educational core studies and subject content. It is divided into two modules:
Module 1 Perspectives on pedagogy, methodology and learning, 15 ECTS cr (education core studies)
Students acquire knowledge and understanding of how children's learning and development can be supported. Students learn to give an account of some theoretical perspectives and critically describe and present pedagogical and educational consequences. For each component students acquire a theoretical foundation through lectures, literature study, observations, interviews, discussions and workshops and continuously develop and present knowledge with the help of digital tools, play or other performances, individually or in groups.
Module 2 Perspectives on learning, development, normalisation and variation, 15 ECTS cr
The module includes the areas of special education/inclusion and sports.
Students develop knowledge of inclusion/special education, and compare the assumptions and consequences of the special education perspective historially, for instance, with an emphasis on the concepts normality, variation, equality and equity.
Instruction is in the form of lectures, literature study, discussions and practical components and field trips, providing opportunities to learn and apply theories. Based on the theories and concepts treated, students carry out a study based on a question, performing observations and interviews in the field. In the sports course, motor abilities, play and learning are studied from a health perspective and knowledge of how children's health affect their learning and development, as well as how movement, diet and health are necessary for children's learning and development. Students give an account of their knowledge in hand-in assignments and oral presentations and discussions in groups.
