Chemistry and Chemistry Education - Degree Project 1
15.0 ECTS creditsThe course is in the form of an independent project, for which the students choose a topic in consultation with the examiner.
The main aim of the course is that students plan and carry out a unit in chemistry for lower secondary education and describe this in a project report. The course also includes studies in some areas of the subject chemistry and chemistry-specific teaching methodology on the basis of curricula, set books, research articles and laboratory methodology.
The project comprises the following components:
a) formulation of topic, purpose and questions
b) literature studies in chemistry and teaching methodology
c) planning teaching sequences including laboratory sessions
d) analysis and oral discussions of planning teaching in the light of theory, purpose and questions
e) presentation of the written project.
Supervision is provided for the course duration. Reregistered students are only offered supervision if circumstances permit.
