Intercultural Business Communication
15.0 ECTS creditsThe course Intercultural business communication focuses on three main themes. The first theme is intercultural concepts and organization which focuses on how the surrounding culture affects the organization and leadership. The theme also addresses issues related work in intercultural groups and how we can communicate to create understanding within and between various cultural contexts. The second theme focuses on how negotiations and leadership need to adapt to cultures and organizations. Here you will also discuss questions related to diversity and equality. The third theme takes a wider perspective centered around issues such as globalization as well as how you can prepare before going on a global assignment as an expatriate, whether it being for work, internship or study. Moreover, the course covers issues such as the start of the intercultural process when groups meet, how knowledge about various communication patterns can enhance interactions with others as well as improving understanding between leaders and team members, motivating people in different cultural contexts and how using symbols can create shared meaning in organizations.
The course is highly recommended for those of you who like to work in international, multicultural and diverse environments or organizations and learn more about what ?cultural/social competence? means, what skills you need to achieve intercultural competence and how you can improve such skills.
