Intercultural Studies: Urbanity and Migration
7.5 ECTS creditsThe course provides a general understanding of intercultural theory and practice in the area of urbanity, migration, and cultural diversity. Today, the concept of "the intercultural city" is an analytical and theoretical contribution to current research, referring to an ideological and practical intervention into the planning, administration, and development of cities. The course focuses especially on guidelines for intercultural urban development at the European level, and compares this type of policy to the results of ethnographic and sociological investigations. Students perform an analysis of urbanity, migration, and interculturality and present it in a seminar.
