30.0 ECTS creditsInstruction is in the form of lectures, group work, literature seminars, and practical demonstration of methodology for different physical activities. Theory and practice are integrated in all modules.
Module 1 Outdoor Activities, Health, and Leadership, 7.5 ECTS cr
Students study how different health projects can be pursued in school. The role of the leader is problematised and linked to professional and personal development. Outdoor activities are studied from af physical education perspective with a focus on health and environment enhancing aspects. Outdoor activities are practised on wilderness hikes with a focus on experience and leadership.
Module 2a. Practical Placement 1, 7.5 ECTS cr
Students have the opportunity to
- meet different groups of staff, for example, teaching teams, student welfare personnel and school management,
- participate in everyday activites, apply central regulations and guidelines and local pedagogical planning with consideration of equality and equal opportunities policies,
- apply subject-specific teaching theories and transform relevant subject knowledge into teaching and reflect on the relation between theory and practice,
- use ICT in their teaching,
- make observations,
- discuss and reflect on the profession and professional development,
- describe special education and student welfare efforts in school,
- acquire knowledge of legislation pertaining to confidentiality and obligation to notify irregularities.
Module 2b. Practical Placement 2, 7.5 ECTS cr
Students engage in the following activites:
-use IT in school
-make classroom observations
-interpret and implement national curricula and local pedagogical planning
-apply pedagogical and subject-specific teaching theories and transform subject knowledge into teaching material with consideration of pupils' different knowledge and interests
-consider the special education perspective
-practise their communicative skills in cooperation with different staff groups and pupils in school -discuss the profession and their professional development and identify areas to develop in the third practical placement period.
Module 3 Independent Project 15 ECTS cr.
Students study theory of science and methodological approaches and apply their knowledge to an independent project. Students are also expected to defend their essay and peer review another in seminar. Critical analysis, methodological approach and clarity of problem formulation and presentation are emphasised. Topic is chosen in consultation with the supervisor.
