Cultural heritage: Transnational perspectives
7.5 ECTS creditsThe course identifies a selection of material and immaterial cultural heritage phenomena in our own cultural sphere. The mainstays of cultural practice are analysed through transnational comparison. This is done through collaboration with similar learning environments in other cultural spheres, and by means of digital tools of communication as well as a joint meeting at one of the participation higher education institutions. In this course, a special emphasis in the study of cultural heritage is placed on conflicts between tradition and innovation; nationalism, colonialism, and internationalism; war and peace; and issues related to gender and the environment.
The course is practice-oriented and focuses on international interaction between students. Students have the opportunity to present papers and contribute to discussion forums, orally and in writing, among themselves in the course but also in interaction with groups of students at other higher educations institutions abroad. The course includes practical exercises that call upon students to use film for their own presentations on aspects of cultural heritage.
