1.5 ECTS creditsThe aim of the course is for students to acquire fundamental knowledge of how solar cells function, including possible future concepts.

The course covers:
- an overview of the solar cell market in relation to other energy sources
- solar cells connected to the energy system of a building
- the structure of solar cells and their basic function at an introductory level
- electrical parameters used to describe solar cells and solar cell modules
- diode model of a solar cell
- processes that limit the efficiency
- the manufacturing of solar cell modules, and
- future solar cells.

G1N (has only upper‐secondary level entry requirements)

Admission requirements:
General entry requirements plus upper secondary level Physics 2, Mathematics 3b or Mathematics 3c, and English 6.Alternatively, Physics level 2, Mathematics Further level 1b or Mathematics Further level 1c, and English level 2.An equivalence assessment can be made.
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
