Scientific Methods in Business Administration

The philosophy of science is introduced as are the basic steps of the research process. The students develop skills in applying research methodology. Topics treated are, for example, critical thinking, the use of models and concepts, collecting information, and the writing process. The course further deals with established research methods regarding qualitative and quantitative approaches along with practical applications. Special consideration is given to processing and analysing quantitative data with the help of existing theories and theory formation based on empirical data. Current research in economics is used as examples throughout the course. The common theoretical and practical frame acquired prepares students for further studies and for the Bachelor thesis.

Instruction is in the form of lectures, seminars and individual study.

Progressive specialisation: G2F (has at least 60 credits in first‐cycle course/s as entry requirements)

Admission requirements: Admission to the Business and Economics Programme (SACEK), Business Administration 60 ECTS cr including at least 30 ECTS cr at G1F-level or higher and Statistics 15 ECTS cr,

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
