English linguistics III: History of English from a sociolinguistic perspective

This module covers the basics of English language history from a sociolinguistic perspective, with a special emphasis on phenomena that can be observed in modern English and current trends in the development of English. In addition, students read research publications which treat English language history from a scoiolinguistic persoective, and learn about possible research questions and methods in the field.

Progressive specialisation: G1F (has less than 60 credits in first‐cycle course/s as entry requirements)

Admission requirements: ENGA32 English Linguistics I: Concepts and Theories (7.5 ECTS credits) and ENGB62 English Linguistics II: Language Acquisition and Language Learning (7.5 ECTS credits), or 60 ECTS credits completed in the main field of study, or equivalent

Selection: Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
