Research Internship: English Linguistics

This course provides students with hands-on research experience in a subfield of linguistics. Students become members of ongoing research projects that are being carried out at the department. They contribute to the actual project work at hand, and obtain an in-depth understanding of the research process as a whole as well as gain relevant research skills and experience in English linguistics. Students work in close collaboration with researchers based in the department, and at times with their national and international collaborators. Tasks may include logistical project planning, reviews of research literature, communicating with informants, and contributing to data collection, preparation, and analysis.

The exact content and nature of tasks depend on the project contribution agreed on between the student and the project leader, and participation in the course is conditional on such a contribution agreement being approved at the outset of the course. The course coordinator is responsible for enabling contact between students and project leaders and putting in place the conditions for such agreement. Work contributed by the students will be acknowledged appropriately in publications or other dissemination of research results.

Progressive specialisation: A1F (has second‐cycle course/s as entry requirements)

Education level: Master's level

Admission requirements: 90 ECTS credits at first cycle level, including at least 30 ECTS credits at the G2F level in English, another language subject, or Linguistics as the main field of study, and 30 ECTS credits at second cycle level, including at least 22.5 ECTS credits in Linguistics, and upper secondary level English 6 or English level 2, or equivalent.

Selection: Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
