Computer Systems II
15.0 ECTS creditsModule 1 (5 ECTS) Operating Systems. The module describes the basic principles of how an operating system is structured and functions and how those principles have been implemented in modern operating systems. After a general overview of computer and operating systems, the module treats processes, process scheduling, process synchronisation, deadlock, memory management, file system, I/O system, and mass storage devices.
Module 2 (5 ECTS) Networked and distributed systems. This module introduces computer networks and distributed systems. It covers the fundamental principles of distributed systems, illustrating key concepts through practical examples of distributed applications. The module combines theoretical knowledge and hands-on exercises.
Module 3 (5 ECTS) Cybersecurity. This module introduces cybersecurity. It covers the fundamentals of security services (confidentiality, integrity and availability), the related AAA framework (authentication, authorization, and access control), and security design principles. This module also offers a first encounter with network, web, operating systems, and software security.
