Sustainability Day inspires a more sustainable society
2023-11-13Sustainability permeates our entire society and is becoming increasingly important. During Sustainability Day, the School of Economics offers lectures and concrete solutions on how companies, organizations and events can become more sustainable.
Students, employees and external visitors are welcome to the hybrid event Sustainability Day at Karlstad University, which Jenny Karlsson and Samuel Petros Sebhatu, project managers and lecturers in business administration, believe can contribute positively to increased knowledge about sustainability.
This year's theme "Organizational transformation and Societal impact" is in line with the School of Economics' focus on working with Agenda 2030. It is about how companies and organizations can work with transformation in their respective operations.
- With concrete examples from lecturers and how they work with challenges and solutions, Sustainability Day contributes to learning more about sustainability, explains Jenny Karlsson. Sustainability Day also prepares students for how they can work with sustainability when they enter working life.
- During Sustainability Day, we share insights and show concrete examples of how various goals in Agenda 2030 can be realized and thus create a positive impact on society, says Samuel Petros Sebhatu.
The participants in this year's program represent different types of organizations - mainly with a focus on actors from Värmland. Keynote speakers are county councilor Emma Spak and Dick Johansson from Klässbol's linen weaving mill.
- We also have representatives from the School of Economics and the Service Research Center (CTF) in the RETAKE project, which focuses on creating sustainable solutions for events, says Jenny Karlsson. The participants will get to test sustainable solutions that have been developed during the project.
Sustainability Day is a hybrid event that takes place on December 11 at 13:00 - 16:00 at Karlstad University and is part of the School of Business and Economics' work to implement PRME (Principles of Responsible Management Education) - part of the UN's sustainable development goals - in the business .
