Inspiring guest lecture on cybersecurity
2019-10-30Cybersecurity concerns you, your work and your research - it is becoming increasingly important, and a sustainable society without cybersecurity does not exist. This was the main message when researcher and expert Fredrik Blix, Stockholm University and Cybercom, gave an open guest lecture at Karlstad University.
On October 25, CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, organized an open guest lecture with the researcher and cybersecurity expert Fredrik Blix. The seminar was about the role of cybersecurity in a sustainable society - how people, organisations and society at large are affected by cybersecurity, both today and in the future, and what can happen when security fails.
Important to quickly secure competence and capacity
"Through Sweden's rapid digitalization, we are in a vulnerable position and need to quickly secure competence and capacity in cybersecurity." says Fredrik Blix. "I am honored to come to Karlstad University and talk about sustainability and cybersecurity - not least since the university has several leading researchers in both fields. It was also rewarding to meet the audience and make new contacts with researchers and businesses in Värmland."
During his visit, Fredrik Blix also met with researchers at CTF and Computer Science at Karlstad University to discuss future collaborations.
"This visit might result in researchers from the university contributing to a solution to offer Swedish municipalities, authorities and regions secure and legal cloud services in Sweden. This is a collaboration we discussed today, and that I truly hope for.” says Fredrik Blix.
Fredrik Blix holds a PhD in Cybersecurity and is a university lecturer in Information Security at Stockholm University as well as a Principal with a focus on Cybersecurity at the Swedish IT consulting company Cybercom in Stockholm.
