Eight researchers from Karlstad University at top 100 list
2019-11-22Eight researchers from Karlstad University are included in the list of the 100 most cited researchers according to the Swedish news magazine Fokus. The list include the researchers in Sweden who have been most frequently cited in international scientific journals.
The researchers are ranked based on how many citations they have and there is a top 100 list for each research area.
"I think it is impressive that we have successful researchers in almost all areas, says Johan Sterte, Vice-Chancellor of Karlstad University. Well-renowned researchers are inspiring for the university and important to the students who gain access to their knowledge in our courses and programs."
Researchers from Karlstad University are included in four of the eight top 100 lists:
Humanities
Åke Bergvall, Professor in English (place 28)
Social science
Per Skålén, Professor in Business Administration (place 70)
Lillemor Lindwall, Professor in Nursing (plats 75)
Margareta Friman, Professor in Psychology (plats 88)
Peter Magnusson, Professor in Business Administration (place 98)
Psychology & Pedagogy
Niklas Gericke, Professor in Biology (place 56)
Birgitta Bisholt, Associate Professor in Nursing (place 72)
Environmental science & Green biology
Carl-Gustaf Bornehag, Professor in Public Health (place 49)
The ranking is based on a compilation of all publications and citations from nearly 20,000 international scientific journals between 2012 and 2015, and with citations counted up to and including the year 2017. These are collected in the international database Web of science. The articles generate points based on how "strong" the articles are, that is, how they are used by researchers in international journals, and it is not only temporary popularity that counts; Articles that are cited many times over the whole period are given more points.
