Academic Celebration 2025

Karlstad University lives by the motto Sapere Aude, dare to be wise. Daring requires a great deal of curiosity and courage, and being wise within academia demands that you are constantly prepared to be critically examined. Knowledge and methods must be presented in such a way that they can be questioned. When scientific results are scrutinized by competent reviewers, they can be used in society for good deeds. This is a never-ending task but one that gives academia trust in a troubled time where we need to have confidence in the various cornerstones on which our world rests. Academia is questioned daily, in large parts of the world, which affects people's attitudes towards both research and education. This, combined with the spread of disinformation, poses a serious threat to society as a whole and undermines a democratic world. Trust in knowledge has never been more important, which is why the theme for the Academic Celebration 2025 is trust.
