Javid Taheri, Professor in Computer Science
“Cloud computing and its emerging areas such as edge computing and network function virtualisation are amongst the most influential aspects of our ever increasing computerised life”.

Javid Taheri was born and raised in Iran. He received a Bachelor of Science 1998 and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2000. He continued his studies and received his PhD in “Information Technologies” from the University of Sydney, Australia in 2007. Javid Taheri stayed on at University of Sydney during 2007-2015, and worked as a senior researcher. In 2015, he moved to Sweden and joined the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Karlstad University. Since 2019, Javid Taheri is a Professor in Computer Science specialising in cloud computing and distributed systems.
Javid Taheri has worked in many research fields in distributed systems, starting from Grid computing in 2010, to cloud computing since 2013, and edge computing since 2018.
"Cloud computing and its emerging areas such as edge computing and network function virtualisation are amongst the most influential aspects of our ever increasing computerised life. Hence, its efficient operation is of utmost importance. My research areas are to optimise various aspects of such highly dynamic systems. Both ICT providers and ICT users will benefit from optimising these services."
Even though it is hectic to work as a professor, sometimes you have to have some free time as well.
"When living in Sydney I used to scuba-dive, but after migrating to Sweden, it’s all about movies."
