Step 2: Applying for research profile and synergy (KKS)
Extended notification when applying for research profile and synergy
To submit an application for Research Profile or Synergy, the research environment should inform the responsible dean in good time. With a positive response, the intended project leader receives an invitation to send an extended notification for interest.
The Research Strategic Group (FSG) assesses each individual pre-registration based on the following principles:
• The project is well-motivated: The host environment(s) can clearly account for having the prerequisites required to design and implement the project in line with the program's purpose and goals.
• The project contributes to the development of research and education at Karlstad University: The host environment(s) can clearly account for the value of the research profile for Karlstad University. The pre-registration is expected to describe goals that concretize the university's vision and strategy.
• The project can be scaled up: The host environment(s) can present a plan to add additional funding from KKS and other funders to strengthen and extend the initiative.
• Quarantine: After rejection of two applications (two years in a row), the host environment(s) must wait at least one year before a renewed application is allowed to be submitted again.
Normally, one (1) pre-registration for Research Profile per call round will be prioritized in accordance with the KK Foundation's instructions. The responsible project leader will be offered support for further development of the pre-registration to a complete application. The rector makes the final decision on whether the application should be submitted or not.
FSG is responsible for submitting the institution's motivation for each Research Profile to the Knowledge Foundation.
