Open access deal - Springer Nature
As researcher affiliated with Karlstad University you can publish open access with some 2,200 Springer Nature journals.
Karlstad University participates in two different agreements with Springer Nature. Springer Compact offers free open access publishing in some 1,600 hybrid journals and runs between 1 January 2019 until 31 December 2021. Springer Nature Fully OA offers open access publishing in close to 600 pure open access journals and runs between 15 July 2019 and 31 December 2021.
The bottom line of the deal is that the article processing charge is transferred from the researcher to the library. This makes it easier for you to comply with funders' open access requirements. Open access publishing also helps to disseminate your work to a wider audience.
A prerequisite is that the corresponding author is affiliated with Karlstad University, and that this affiliation is apparent in the article.
What do I as researcher need to do?
Springer Compact and Springer Nature Fully OA use different workflows, but upon acceptance of your paper, in both cases you will automatically receive e-mail notification from the publisher on the next step in the process. You will need to state Karlstad University as your affiliation, and we will then confirm this to the publisher. After this, Springer Nature will inform you that the article is to be published open access and free of charge.
