2018-09-19CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, receives 3 million SEK from the Knowledge Foundation to develop and offer flexible courses for professionals. The courses will be developed based on business needs and on the latest research by CTF focusing on value creation through services.
CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, has been awarded 3 million SEK to develop and offer courses within the Graduate Professional Development Program supported by the Knowledge Foundation. The tailor-made courses will be developed in cooperation with around 15 companies and organizations to meet their competence development needs.
Cooperation between academia and business practice
"We are very pleased that so many partners want to be involved, it indicates that there is a need and an interest in having an influence in the content of the courses," says Program Manager Carolina Camén, researcher at CTF and lecturer at Karlstad Business School.
"CTF's service research is at the forefront of international research. Through the Graduate Professional Development Program, we are given the opportunity to target education initiatives for the business sector, which in turn may strengthen their competencies and competitiveness. Our partners contribute with knowledge, experience and new research questions which can lead to new project ideas," says Carolina Camén.
The work is currently underway and entails competence mapping, developing and implementing pilot courses. This will partly be carried out through workshops and discussions with the participating partners. The researchers will also develop a model for competence mapping and course development, and write a funding application for the next step in the venture.
"This is the first time that Karlstad University has a Graduate Professional Development Program. This is an acknowledgement that research carried out at the university, and in this case at CTF, is important both to the research community and for the business sector. It is in line with the strategic goals of the university, which is to combine research and education into complete environments. This will be possible through the support from the Knowledge Foundation, says Patrik Larsson, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
