Johnpaul Ikejiofor – how well has the start of the programme met your academic expectations?

– So far, I would say it has been good. I’m still getting used to everything, but I’m enjoying the learning process.

What aspects of the teaching and learning environment have been most supportive for your studies?

– I like that the lecturers are approachable and that there is room to ask questions and interact with them.

You've just arrived here in Karlstad and Sweden – what are your impressions of life here so far?

– Honestly, I’m enjoying it so far. Coming from Nigeria, there are quite a few things that are different, so I’m still adjusting. The weather is probably one of the biggest ones – it's very cold and when I talk to some people about it, they tend to make me more scared by saying it gets worse during the winter. But I like how peaceful Karlstad is, and I’m enjoying getting familiar with the city and Swedish way of life.

How has Karlstad University helped you integrate socially and culturally as a new international student?

– Being an international student, it has been nice to meet people from different countries and backgrounds. I'm just a week old in Sweden so I hope to meet more people as time goes.

In what ways is your programme contributing to your personal or professional development?

– I think it is making me better at looking at problems from different angles. I’m also becoming more comfortable working with data and dealing with quantitative problems. These are skills I know I can use in my career, especially because I’m interested in economics, data and business.

Would you recommend Karlstad Business School to other students?

– Yes, I would. I think it’s a good choice for someone who wants to study in an international environment and also experience life in a smaller and more peaceful city. I’ve only been here for a short time, so I’m still discovering things, but my experience so far has been positive.
