Social Activity

15th of June
Sunday afternoon
2:00 PM
Visit at the Lars Lerin exhibit at Sandgrund Museum. Lars Lerin is a famous local artist whose paintings are displayed at a museum in central Karlstad. The permanent exhibition at Sandgrund shows different themes from Lars Lerin's 30 years as an artist; watercolor paintings, oil paintings, graphic art, collages and photographs from many places in the world.
We will meet outside the museum at 2:00 PM. The entrance fee is 100 Swedish kronor and must be paid individually, as it is a self-cost expense. Once inside the museum, the visit will be self-guided, and you are free to explore either individually or in groups, as you prefer.
Visit https://sandgrund.org/ for[FA1] more information about the exhibit and Lars Lerin.
4:30 PM
Swedish fika and quiz at the park Sandgrundsudden in central Karlstad. We meet outside the entrance of The Museum Of Värmland, located in the park.
This activity depends on weather conditions! Registered participants will receive information if the activity has to be cancelled. This, as the “fika” will take place outside with no possibilities for changing to indoor environments.
5:30 PM
The fika is then followed by a guided walk in the city center. During the guided walk, we will visit famous landmarks and locations in Karlstad. These include:
- The statue named “The sun of Karlstad”.
- The peace monument, established in 1955 in memory of the peaceful dissolution of the union between Sweden and Norway in 1905.
- Karlstad Town Hall.
- The Church of Karlstad (Anno 1730).
- The Haga canal.
- The Stone Bridge (East Bridge), officially opened in 1797 by King Gustav IV Adolf.
If bad weather conditions occur, we recommend bringing an umbrella and (water resistant) comfortable clothes and shoes, as the tour is possible in rainy weather.
You register for our social activities in conjunction with your registration for the entire conference.
If you have signed up for an activity and wish to cancel, please do so by emailing either felicia.augustsson@kau.se or charlotta.lindvall@kau.se
