Top ranking public transport research at Karlstad University
2015-12-21Karlstad University along with Samot, The Service and Market Oriented Transport Research Group, is the leading European institution on public transport research. These are findings from a new study where public transport research was surveyed.
The study shows that public transport research involve both disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and has increased in recent years. The biggest increase in this area occurs in the US and in China. On a top-30 ranking list, based on number of citations and in terms of high performing institutions in public transport research, Karlstad University lands on seventh place in a global perspective and in the first place in the European perspective. Karlstad University along with the VINN Excellence center, Samot, The Service and Market Oriented Transport Research Group is the leading European institution in this area.
The results are taken from the study “A Scientometric Analysis of Public Transport Research” that recently was published in Journal of Public Transportation 2015. The study measures and analyzes the science, technology, and innovation supported by citations. The aim is to understand citation patterns, identify research areas and produce indicators that can guide the future development within public transport research. The study was conducted using data from Elsevier’s Scopus, which is a large bibliographic database during the period 2009-2013. Read the report here >
