Innovation and high ambitions - electrical engineering
A creative atmosphere with focus on new technology, where innovation is the cornerstone for new challenges that are mastered on a regular basis. The members of the electrical engineering group find breeding ground to develop both personally and professionally for their future career.

- Our goal in electrical engineering is develop a robust research and educational environment in this field of study. We want Karlstad University to find new paths to evolve science, technology and society forward, says Andreas Theocharis.
Join in creating something new
In addition to being coordinator of the Electrical Engineering Programme, Andreas Theocharis is an Associate Professor in the subject. He describes the work at the university as both challenging and stimulating.
- The university is young but is rapidly developing. It offers to the staff several opportunities to be involved in innovative activities. The personnel may develop their competences at a fast pace, says Andreas Theocharis and describes the environment at Karlstad University as a very nice place to work.
Andreas Kassler, Professor of Computer Science, agrees.
- The university offers good conditions for those who have ambitions to take themselves and their research further. You will be given freedom to move forward.
Cross-discipline research in a one-campus environment
Andreas Theocharis also points out the university’s size and cohesive campus structure as something positive. Other researchers and their findings are always close at hand and it is easy to make new contacts. This also offers opportunities for multidisciplinary collaborations, which can be useful in the journey towards new goals.
The discipline of electrical engineering now has an opening for an associate senior lecturer. The successful candidate will spend the majority of the time on research in an already strong and successful team formed by electrical engineering and computer science. The hope is that the associate senior lecturer will contribute to increased awareness of the research conducted in the field.
- We see the associate senior lecturer to as a key person for us. Someone who can contribute from the idea stage to materialisation and dissemination of findings stages in order to step forward as a university environment, for the benefit of the society as well, says Andreas Theocharis.
