New perspectives as a source of inspiration - physics
In an international and multidisciplinary environment with plenty of research equipment, the conditions are in place mastering challenges and developing as a researcher. Ellen Moons, Professor of Physics, is pleased with the working environment at Karlstad University.
- The group has a broad network of contacts, says Ellen. Because work in this research filed has been conducted for a long time at Karlstad university, the collaborations are strong, while the network of is still expanding, thanks to the researchers’ backgrounds in various research groups.
The researchers in SOLA@KaU, as the research group that works with new for solar cells is called, come from all over the world. A fantastic asset according to Ellen, both from a research point of view as well as socially. They complement each other scientifically, while also having fun together. She emphasises the importance of having a positive group spirit and that new perspectives is a source of inspiration.
Plenty of projects to get involved in
The department of Engineering and Physics has many ongoing projects that you can get involved in. The opportunities for each person to contribute to the development of education and research are many and they are easy to identify.
- As an employee of Karlstad universitet you can make a difference and contribute to the development of the organisation at different levels, says Ellen.
The fact that it is a small university creates a unique environment. Everything is close at hand, in the same place, which facilitates cross-border and interdisciplinary work. Collaborations with other disciplines are important and something that has high priority. In experimental materials physics, they work together with chemists and computational physicists to create better results through collaboration.
The aim of their research is to contribute to new knowledge about solar cell materials and to a sustainable and efficient technology for solar power. The team wants to be involved in strengthening renewable energy technology, which needs to be inexpensive and accessible for everyone.
