On the workplace
Karlstad University conducts research and provides education driven by curiosity, courage and community involvement. Around 1 500 staff members and 17 300 students work at the university. We promote a work environment that allows staff and students to thrive, find satisfaction in their work, the university community and their personal development.

Karlstad University is a young and innovative university that offers one of Sweden’s most inspirational university environments. Our operations are founded on transparency and accessibility, as well as close connections between research, education and broader society.
The Karlstad campus is close to the forest and the city centre. Ingesund School of Music is located on our second campus in Arvika, an hour northwest of Karlstad.
We offer a transparent and creative workplace, with frequent cultural events. Our staff can live active lives and promote their health through a generous variety of activities, such as free lunch training sessions and subsidised gym memberships.
We help new staff members to find housing and childcare and also reimburse some moving expenses. Please contact the HR Office for further information.
All new staff members are invited to an introduction day, during which we provide more information on the university’s operations and organisation as well as the rights and obligations of staff members.
