Hexagon
Hexagon is an EU-funded project that helps companies develop new materials and products from production waste using 3D printing technologies.
The project focuses on making use of materials that would otherwise become waste during manufacturing processes. Hexagon aims to increase knowledge about how production waste can be transformed into new materials and products through 3D printing, while also exploring business models that support circular economy initiatives.
About the Project
The project's objectives are to:
- Develop 30 new materials
- Create a circular business model
- Share and disseminate knowledge about the possibilities offered by 3D printing technologies
The project runs until 31 December 2027.
During the project period, a public materials library will be established. This library will remain accessible after the project has ended, providing long-term value to businesses, researchers and other stakeholders.
Activities
The project includes:
- Workshops to discuss opportunities and solutions for the reuse of waste materials.
- Workshops exploring potential circular business models.
- A materials library showcasing material combinations, test results and current applications of different materials.
- Development and testing of various materials to identify their properties and potential applications.
- Two conferences focusing on the project's key themes and areas of expertise.
Target Group
The project is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that wish to:
- Reuse production waste
- Develop business opportunities based on waste materials
- Explore ideas and products that could benefit from circular materials
