Finding accommodation
Finding a rental apartment can be difficult in Swedish cities and Karlstad as well, so we strongly recommend that you start looking for a place to stay as soon you receive the decision of employment. Most people moving here find temporary accommodation first and when they are here and have received a Swedish personal identity number, which is required by most landlords, it is easier to find a place to live.

Information on rental apartments in Karlstad
At the Karlstad municipality website you will find a list of all landlords in Karlstad. The page is available in different languages, click 'other languages' in the top right corner.

Berling apartments
The firm Berling apartments offers furnished apartments located in the city centre, 100 meters from a bus that takes you directly to the university. This is more of a short time solution.
Bonava
Offers apartments in an area called Rudsberget. Contact sara.wasserman@kanslihuset.se to check if they have vacant apartments to rent.
Stiftelsen Karlstadshus
Stiftelsen Karlstadshus offering apartments close to the university (Kronoparken) but also in Rud and Norrstrand. Register and log in at Stiftelsen Karlstadshus website to see all their apartments currently available. Register by using date of birth (19XX-month-day), and your e-mail address. You will then receive an e-mail with instructions on how to proceed, and a request to fill in current address, phone number.
If you are interested in a vacant apartment, you are expected to sign up for a viewing. A standard procedure is that, after the deadline, a number of potential tenants are selected and invited by e-mail to view the apartment.
Ciab real estate (Ciab fastigheter)
Ciab real estate has a lot of apartments in Karlstad, some of them close to the University. You usually do not need a Swedish identity number at Ciab. Sign up at their website for each respective apartment.
