GetRisk!
GetRisk! is a dialogue-based tool used to support joint decision-making in situations characterised by risk, uncertainty and complex trade-offs. The tool is based on a further development of the classic risk matrix and is designed to work in practical contexts where multiple perspectives need to be weighed.
In addition to focusing solely on probability and consequence, GetRisk! highlights how different actors value risks and options for action, and how these values influence decisions.
A support for dialogue and learning
GetRisk! is designed to be used in groups and serves as a structuring support for conversations about risk. By visualising risks, consequences and possible measures, conditions are created for:
- Shared understanding of complex risk situations
- open and reflective discussions about priorities and goal conflicts
- increased transparency in how decisions emerge
The tool is particularly useful in contexts where different professions, organisational levels or activities meet.
From analysis to decision
A central point with GetRisk! is the link between risk assessment and the choice of action. The tool helps groups not only identify and evaluate risk, but also discuss what actions are reasonable to take, given available resources, mandates and uncertainties.
This makes GetRisk! relevant to planning, work, exercises, and evaluations, as well as to sharper decision-making processes.
Use within RiskLab®
Within the RiskLab at the Centre for Societal Risk Research (CSR), GetRisk! is an interactive tool in workshops, training and research-related collaboration activities. It helps bring together research and practice and explore how risk assessments and decisions are actually carried out across different activities.
A flexible tool for different contexts
GetRisk! can be adapted to different types of issues and levels, from strategic reasoning to more operational situations. The tool is suitable for actors who work with risk, security and preparedness, for example, in municipalities, regions, authorities and other organisations.
GetRisk! is a tool for making more thoughtful decisions about risk through dialogue, reflection and mutual understanding.
