Degree programmes
Karlstad University offers, in round numbers, 50 degree programmes at undergraduate level and 20 at Master’s level. These programmes are composed of courses taken in a certain order to meet degree requirements. There is also the opportunity to create your own degree by choosing a major subject approved for inclusion in a degree and elective minors.
Programmes are divided into three levels: preparatory, undergraduate, and Master. A preparatory programme offers the chance to obtain eligibility for admission to some undergradute programmes. A completed upper secondary education usually meets the admission requirements for most undergraduate programmes. Master’s programmes are second level university education to which only students with a professional or Bachelor’s degree are admitted. Some programmes are offered in English.
Please note that most of the programmes are taught in Swedish. The course catalogue contains descriptions in English of all programmes and courses, no matter what the language of instruction.
