PLS-SEM seminars with Professor Christian M. Ringle
On the 25th and 26th of October Professor Christian M. Ringle, Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), will hold two workshops for CTF. The seminars will focus on partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM).
Day 1, 09.00 - 17.00, 21A342: Focus on the foundations of PLS; learn the basics of PLS-SEM. Including afternoon coffee.
Day 2, 09.15 - 12.00, 12A324: Offer more advanced topics of mediation, moderation and higher-order models.
Day 2, 13.00 - 17.00, 12A324: "Working seminar" and free discussions - based on your own work/ongoing articles.
About PLS-SEM:
PLS-SEM is a composite-based approach to SEM, which has the goal to explain variances and to predict the target constructs (prediction-oriented character of the methodology) rather than explaining covariances (theory testing via covariance-based SEM, CB-SEM). Compared to other SEM techniques, PLS-SEM allows researchers to obtain results for very complex models with many constructs and indicator variables. Furthermore, PLS-SEM allows to estimate reflective and formative constructs and generally offers much flexibility in terms of data requirements. The workshop will focus on introducing the state-of-the-art of PLS-SEM using the SmartPLS 3 software.
Christian M. Ringle biography:
Christian M. Ringle is a Professor of Management and the Director of the Institute of Human Resource Management and Organizations (HRMO) in the Department of Management Sciences and Technology at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), Germany, and an Adjunct Professor of the Waikato Management School, New Zealand. He holds a PhD from the University of Hamburg, Faculty of Business and Economics. His research addresses strategic management, organizations, marketing, human resource management, and quantitative methods for business and market research. His research in these fields has been published in journals such as Annals of Tourism Research, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Information Systems Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Leisure Research, Journal of Service Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Long Range Planning, and MIS Quarterly. He is a cofounder of SmartPLS, a statistical software tool with a graphical user interface for partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Ringle regularly teaches doctoral seminars on multivariate statistics, especially the PLS-SEM method, and the use of the statistical software such as SmartPLS.
