OBS CANCELED/INSTÄLLT! Meet a researcher - Do gender pronouns matter?
Do gender pronouns matter?
Do I like it if people call me “she”? Or sometimes “they”? How do people feel when the wrong pronoun is used for them? Why do people experience different levels of discomfort – that can even effect depressions, anxiety or learning problems - when being “mis-gendered”?
Transgender and non-binary people as well as androgynous non-trans people are often troubled daily by situations in which a speaker uses the wrong personal pronoun for them. In this presentation drawing on transgender studies, health studies, and linguistics, Wibke Straube, researcher at the Centre for Gender Studies, will present scientific and artistic approaches to gender pronouns.
