Effects of remote services are studied in collaboration with Valmet

Technical services based on IT solutions are becoming increasingly common in many manufacturing industries, but many questions still remain concerning for example, how it affects relationships, and how to create a profitable business models. The introduction of new technology can also be a challenge that must be addressed, especially if the company operates globally. These are areas that researchers at CTF will study in collaboration with Valmet Karlstad Service Technology Center.

In a new research project the researchers are studying and following the development of Valmets’ latest service innovation within remote services. By combining and packaging existing technology in new ways the company now can offer a new remote service.
- We are particularly interested in how to use this type of service as a platform to co-create value with customers in a profitable way, says Ph D Nina Löfberg, that together with her colleague Ph D Maria åkesson are running the project.
The project is run within the research profile SISB, Service Innovation for Sustainable Business . The research profile covers the period 2011-2019 and is financed by the Knowledge Foundation and Karlstad University and the following partners: Ikea, Ericsson, Volvo, Löfbergs, Ica Maxi, Bergvik and Valmet.
