Materials Engineering II

In design and manufacturing the engineer will face a material selection problem. Product development takes place in the mechanical design process, where a comprehensive view and understanding the context are of prime concern. In the course the student will learn about the relation between application demands and structure and properties of commercial engineering materials. As well, knowledge on materials standardization, interpretation of industrial product information, and skills to perform a systematic material selection and using material data bases will be trained. Design with environmental consideration is discussed in the course.
Progressive specialisation: G2F (has at least 60 credits in first‐cycle course/s as entry requirements)
Education level: Undergraduate level
Admission requirements: Mechanical engineering 60 ECTS cr including materials engineering, manufacturing engineering and solid mechanics, or equivalent
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
