Communication and Global Media III
30.0 ECTS creditsThe course comprises two modules:
Module 1: Research Survey and Research Design 15 ECTS cr
The module deals with current research fields in communication theory and students develop skills in writing a research survey in a specific specialisation area. Different quantitative and qualitative research methods in the field of media and communication studies are treated with an emphasis on computer processing, analysis and the link between theory and method. Ethical issues relevant to research and development are treated throughout the course. The course involves practical exercises. There may be instruction in English.
Module 2 Thesis Project, 15 ECTS cr
Students develop their ability to write an independent thesis in a chosen field, applying theoretical as well as methodological knowledge. The module includes instruction on and practice of how to perform in a thesis seminar. Supervision is offered to students for the course duration. Students who re-register at a later time are offered supervision only if circumstances so permit. There may be instruction in English.

Admission to the SGMKV-SGGM Media and Communication programme. Courses in Media and communication studies 60 ECTS cr, including MKGA02 Introduction to Media and communication studies 15 ECTS cr, MKGA03 Text, Communication and Organisation 15 ECTS cr, and 15 ECTS cr for Research Methods 7.5 ECTS cr and Independent Project 7.5 ECTS cr of the course MKGB72 Media and Communication I 30 ECTS cr, and 15 ECTS cr of the courses MKGA71 Communication and Global Media I 30 ECTS cr, MKGB71 Communication and Global Media II 30 ECTS cr and the module Media, Culture and Society 15 ECTS cr of the course MKGB72 Media and Communication I 30 ECTS cr, or equivalent
