- The emergence of special education as a research field from a historical, national and international perspective. Analysis of current curricula, directives and central concepts.
- The professional role of the special educator in terms of ethical and democratic considerations. The importance of their own approach and professional conversation in relation to the task of the special educator.
- Special education as a research field. Current research, the meaning of a scientific approach and basic knowledge of scientific knowledge production.
- International conventions and national curricula and directives of relevance to the practising special educator.
