Physical Education for Teachers II: Older Children

The students further develop their physical education competence in close association with PE- teachers in secondary schools. The components course planning and assessing students are also included.
Module 2 Physical Education in a Human Biology Perspective II, 7.5
The students advance their knowledge of anatomical functions with an emphasis on the muscular system, metabolism, and diet and dietetics. The module also includes sports medical aspects and ergonomic measuring methods of physical activities. Also included is test leader training.
Module 3 Sports and Health: Instruction and Leadership II, 15 ECTS cr
The students further develop knowledge and skills in physical education. Basic CPR is included. Students also practise different forms of dance, play, sports, out-door activities and health, which are related to the curricular aims of physical education in school. The role of the instructor is discussed and practised especially in regard to teacher-student communication and interplay. The module also treats special education issues and choice of activities for the functionally challenged. Students also carry out a special project in a relevant sports activity and document the knowledge in the standard scientific way.
Instruction is in the form of lectures, groupwork, seminars, and hands-on presentations of the methodology of different physical activities. Theory and practice are integrated throughout the course. Students are required to participate actively in all instruction.
