Physical Education/Movement for Younger Children

This module provides an introduction to the knowledge domain of sports and health. The anatomy and function of the human body are studied along with principles for age-adapted physical activity based on physiological maturity and development. Theory and practice alternate. CPR for children is included.
Module 2 Motor Skills, Play and Learning, 7.5 ECTS cr
Sports and health aspects are studied, and students develop knowledge and skills in different forms of motor activities from a sports pedagogical perspective. Students engage in play, physical activity and sports indoors and outdoors with a focus on leisure and outdoor life.
Module 3 Leadership and Learning, 7.5 ECTS cr
Different theories of leadership and their relevance to sports and health are studied. Leadership is practised with a focus on physical activity in various environments indoors and outdoors. Physical education is emphasised and the importance of stimulating children to enjoy and engage in physical activities is an overarching theme.
Module 4 Health Project, 7.5 ECTS cr.
Students plan, conduct and evaluate how different physical activities can be integrated in the school day or other pedagogical settings.
Instruction is in the form of lectures, group work, seminars on the course reading, and practical presentations of teaching methodologies involving various physical activities. Theory and practice are integrated throughout the duration of the course.
