Priyankar Upadhyaya
Ph.D., UNESCO Chair for Peace, Professor and Director of the Malaviya for Centre Peace Research at Banaras Hindu University, holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. Degree of Jawaharlal Nehru University; and has done post-doctoral research at London University and the Woodrow Wilson Centre for International Scholars, Washington DC. In addition to his three decades of teaching career at BHU, Professor Upadhyaya has taught and done research in political science & conflict resolution in many parts of the world, including Air Force Academy at Colorado Spring, Concordia University, Montreal; Ulster University in Northern Ireland, and Karlstad University in Sweden. He has been Fellow at the Henry L Stimson Center, Washington DC, and recently a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Peace Research Institute (PRIO), Oslo. Professor Upadhyaya has authored/co-authored several books published from Cambridge, MUP, CUP, Ashgate among others and research articles in reputed International Journals such as the Denver Journal of International Law & Policy; International Studies (Sage) and Strategic Analysis (Routledge).
Dr. Manoj Kumar Mishra
Serves at the Banaras Hindu University as an Associate Professor in the Malaviya Centre for Peace Research. He obtained an M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi on ‘Ethnic Minorities in Central Asia’, and an advance International Diploma from University of Oslo. Currently Dr. Mishra is teaching and researching on issues of Human Security, Peace Research, Environmental Security, and Environmental Conflict.
Ajay Kumar Yadav
Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at the Malaviya Centre for Peace Research (MCPR), Banaras Hindu University. He obtained his Ph.D. and masters’ in Political Science from Banaras Hindu University and International Diploma in Peace Research from the University of Oslo. He has served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the European Union Project, CORE under FP 7. His teaching and research interests are on Conflict Management, Human Security, Development and Underdevelopment debate and Gender studies.
Sunita Singh
Ph.D. in Political Science from Banaras Hindu University, is an Assistant Professor at the Malaviya Centre for Peace Research. Her area of specialization lies in human rights, civil society and gender studies. Currently, she is working on a project on civil society, multiculturalism, and peace building focusing on women’s initiative and their role in peace building. She is primarily teaching the courses of international relations, Indian politics and conflict & peace studies.
Prashant Kumar
Assistant Professor at Malaviya Centre for Peace Research holds his Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University and an advance International Diploma from University of Oslo. He has been also teaching at Alliance for Global Education, an exchange program of Arcadia University and University of Butler, USA in Varanasi for a year. He has served as a Senior Research Fellow with the Centre for the Study of Nepal, Banaras Hindu University for five years. His research interest lies in South Asian Politics, Indian Traditions of Peace and Ethnic and Federal Politics.
Anjoo Sharan Upadhyaya
Ph.D., is a Professor of Political Science at Banaras Hindu University and is currently serving as ICCR Chair Professor at Dublin City University, Dublin. In addition to teaching and guiding research at Banaras Hindu University, Anjoo has also been the Head of her department (1998-2001, 2004-2007) and the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of B.H.U.(1998-2000). Professor Upadhyaya has been a guest Professor at Karlstad University, Sweden (2015-16). She has been the Director Centre for the Study of Nepal at BHU( 2006-2011) and ICCR Chair professor at the Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu( 2011-2013). She has done post Doctoral Research at the London School of Economics and Politics (1986,1990), and Brown University (1997), has been a Scholar-in- Residence at the prestigious Woodrow Wilson Centre for International Scholars, Washington D.C. (1993), Henry L. Stimson Centre Washington D.C. (1999), and Concordia University (2004). She also has lectured and published extensively on issues relating to Ethnicity, Gender, Conflict and Peace, Nationally and Internationally.
Per-Olof Fjällsby
is a historian and the Head of Department for Historical, Political and Cultural studies at Karlstad University, Sweden. He has since the 1980s been engaged in exchange programs between Banaras Hindu University and Karlstad University.
He has written about the political ambitions and actions of the Theosophical Society within the emerging nationalist movement in India during 1879-1930.
Katarina Plank
Is a historian of religion and works as a lecturer at Karlstad University. She holds a PhD from Lunds University on the subject Buddhism and meditation in Sweden. Among other things she has published several scientific articles on the subject. During spring 2016 she led a post-doctor project with the title Thaibuddhism in Sweden – religion, gender and migration.
Ulf Mellström
Is professor of Gender Studies. He has published extensively in the areas of masculinity studies, globalisation, higher education, gender equality policy, and Science and Technology Studies. He is the editor-in-chief of Norma: International Journal for Masculinity Studies.
Camilla Kylin
PhD. Assistant Professor of Psychology, Institution of Social and Psychological Studies, Karlstad University, Sweden. Camilla works as a lecturer at the Institution of Social and Psychological Studies. As a researcher she has published articles and book chapters within the fields of new working life and work-life balance; work, stress, and health; social identity; and leadership. Camilla is a Member of several Boards, including the Culture Committee Board, Karlstad municipality, the executive Board of the International Collegium for Advanced Transdisciplinary Gender Studies. During 2016, Camilla serves a coordinator for the creation of a platform between researchers and local cultural actors in the Karlstad and the Värmland region.
