Open access deal - Springer
The Swedish library consortium for universities and research institutes (Bibsam) has recently renewed the deal with the international publisher Springer regarding open access publishing in their journals. The deal allows you to publish your article open access - at no charge to yourself - in some 1,600 Springer journals.
Earlier, if you wanted to publish open access in a Springer hybrid journal an article processing charge of 2,200 EUR was issued to you as researcher. The bottom line of the deal is that this charge is transferred from the researcher to the library. This makes it easier for you to comply with funders' open access requirements. Open access publishing also helps to disseminate your work to a wider audience.
The deal with Springer runs from January 1, 2019 through December 2021. All papers accepted from January 1 onwards are eligible for Springer Compact. A prerequisite is that the corresponding author is affiliated with Karlstad University, and that this affiliation is apparent in the article.
What do I as researcher need to do?
When your paper has been accepted for publishing you will receive an e-mail link from Springer to "My publication", where you register your application. When this is done we will verify for Springer that you are affiliated with Karlstad University. After that, your article will be made freely available online.
