Nature and cultural tourism
7.5 ECTS credits
The course provides perspectives on nature and culture tourism with a focus on the theories and concepts of nature and culture and the requirements for nature and culture tourism productions. The preservation and management of nature and cultural environments, cultural heritage and ecotourism are treated. The history of outdoor recreation is linked to the emergence of environmental commitment and contemporary importance to the development of tourism. Students develop skills in identifying, collecting information and giving accounts of applications of nature and cultural tourism through academic methods and writing. Ethical and societal aspects of tourism development with a focus on economic, social, cultural and environmental effects are treated. Mandatory study visits to actors involved in nature and cultural tourism are included. Students are expected to meet any costs incurred for board and lodging.
