The Special Educator as a Professional Dialogue Partner

Introduction to systemic and narrative theories on the professional dialogue in special education
Aspects of ethics and power in the professional dialogue in special education
Group exercises in which group dynamic aspects are tested and analysed
Dialogue seminars with laboratory elements
Journal reflections and discourse transcriptions
Specialisation on an aspect of the professional dialogue in special education
An essay in which students argue a thesis on the profession dialogue
The course consists of four modules:
Module 1. Introduction to the systemic and narrative perspective, 7.5 ECTS cr.
Introduction to and exploration of different types of professional dialogues on different issues. Systemic and narrative perspectives are introduced and tested.
Module 2. Ethical aspects, 7.5 ECTS cr.
Issues of relations, power structures and ethical aspects in the professional dialogue are treated.
Module 3. Directed reading, 7.5 ECTS cr
Continued study of the professional dialogue. Students choose and carry out their own area of specialisation regarding the professional dialogue.
Module 4. Independent project, 7.5 ECTS cr
The course is concluded with an argumentative essay on the professional dialogue and seminar discussions.
The course is characterised by co-creation in form and content. Students are required to conduct extra-mural professional dialogues throughout the course which serve as objects of discussion and analysis.
