Religious Studies for Teachers 2

Module 1 Religion, Text and Materiality, 9 ECTS cr
The module has a focus on different theoretical approaches to analysing religion and on how religion can be communicated and understood in different contexts.
Module 2 Life Philosophy, Ethics and Interpretation, 7.5 ECTS cr
The module builds on the module Religion and Life Philosophies in Religious Studies I, deepening the study of life philosophy and ways of defining the phenomenon. Students specialise in secular life philosophies. The field of ethics is introduced and linked to popular culture expressions in film and literature. The classis controversy of faith and knowledge is treated.
Module 3 Religions in Theory and Practice, 4.5 ECTS cr
The module focuses on theology with an emphasis on the dialogue within and between the three monotheistic religions with a special emphasis on the historical and theological relation between Judaism and Christianity. The teaching approach The Children of Abraham developed by Dorothea Roseberg is also studied.
Module 4 Independent Essay Project, 9 ECTS cr
Students practice the basic theory and methods in religious studies preparing for their essay project, which is carried out under supervision and presented in writing and orally, thus promoting communicative skills as well as broadening knowledge of religious studies among the students.
