Teaching in preschool
7.5 ECTS creditsThe aim of the course is that students acquire knowledge of teaching on the basis of preschool curriculum and in relation to practice and current research. Teaching is treated in reference to the education act and the preschool curriculum, and includes the distribution of responsibility for teaching between the preschool head and the preschool teacher.
The course involves problematising teaching as a goal-oriented process in preschool on the basis of current research and theoretical perspectives, including following up, analysing and discussing teaching in different situations.
A central aspect of the course is that students discuss the meanings and relations between the concepts of education, teaching and learning, and reflect on teaching in relation to the preschool tradition of play, care, creativity and core values.
Instruction is in the form of lectures, literature study and seminars. It is process-oriented with workplace-related assignments between meetings.
