Tools of environmental and safety management
15.0 ECTS creditsThe purpose of the course is for students to acquire knowledge and understanding of a number of key tools (methods, approaches, and practices) in environmental and safety management, and develop their ability to assess the practical applications of them.
The course prepares students for a future profession in the area of environment and safety through study of a number of key tools that are used in practice.These tools are used for decision-making, cooperation and communication, and governance and control. Examples of tools covered are risk and vulnerability analysis, environmental impact assessment, cost-benefit analysis, project management, participatory methods, and environmental management systems.
Knowledge of the tools as well as their applications in practice and examples are included. Students also analyse the practical application of the tools. In cases where the use of the tools are regulated by law, or where calculations play an important role, these aspects are also included in the course.

At least 45 ECTS credits completed in the courses MVG100 Introduction to Environment and Safety (15 ECTS credits), RHG100 Natural Science Basis of Risk and Environmental Issues (15 ECTS credits), MVG200 Societal Strategies for Environment and Safety (15 ECTS credits), RHG220 Environmental Risk Management (15 ECTS credits), or equivalent

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
