Introduction Environment and Safety
15 ECTS credits
Instruction is in the form of lectures, seminars, exercises, group discussions, excursions, and study visits.
The course comprises the following components:
- introduction to studying at university, to academic writing and finding sources,
- introduction to the programme Environment and Safety and to the future professional role,
- ethical perspectives on environmental risks,
- historical perspectives on environmental risks,
- basic key concepts in environmental science and risk management,
- causes and consequences of current environmental risks,
- survey of environmental risks in Sweden and globally: threats and vulnerabilities, and
- discussion of societal management of environmental problems and risk.

Admission requirements:
General admission requirements plus field-specific eligibility 15 or A14: upper secondary level Civics A/1b/1a1 1a2, Mathematics B/2a/2b/2c and Natural Sciences B/2 (or Physics A/1, Chemistry A/1, and Biology A/1 for Natural Science B/2), or equivalent.
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
