Polymers and polymer based composites
7.5 ECTS credits
The course objective is to acquire knowledge on polymers and polymerbased composites (including composites of natural materials). It will serve their use and development of their properties, manufacturing and design of products. An emphasis is put on their structure and its relation to their application. Calculation of composite properties as stiffness and strength is treated. Micromechanics, laminate theory and finite element methods (FEM) are included and used. The course contains practical parts as laboratory work.

Admission requirements: Mechanical Engineering 75 ECTS cr, including materials engineering courses 15 ECTS cr and solid mechanics with basic FEM 15 ECTS cr, or equivalent
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
