15.0 ECTS creditsWith an emphasis on the secondary and upper secondary school levels, the course covers descriptions and problematisations of:
- the political steering of school at different levels, especially in regard to the support and control functions of the National Agency for Education and the Swedish Schools Inspectorate
- the organisation of the education system in Sweden and other countries
- the legal framework of education with an emphasis on core values and international agreements on human rights and children's rights
- curriculum theory with an emphasis on Swedish curricular research and its descriptions
- pedagogical and subject-specific teaching methodological research perspectives on school, including aesthetic form of expression, performing to an audience and knowledge of text books and technological aids in teaching
- school core values nationally and locally in an intersectoral perspective; students also carry out a minor research project based on document analysis and the use of IT for retrieving and collecting data and for compiling and reporting results.
