Processes of regional development
7.5 ECTS creditsseminars include examination and are mandatory.
The course covers the following components:
- The changing role and influence of the region (governance, planning and territorial constitution
- New regionalism and the new regional policy (Sweden, EU etc)
- The new regional policy in practice (regional level appliation)
The course centres on the region as an increasingly important political and administrative level. The growth of regional responsibility for sustainable development is emphasised. The new regional policy has developed new central concepts, processes and forms of control. Regional development and growth programmes, innovation systems, partnerships, and clusters are some examples of course content. The effects of the new regional policy in different geographical environments are also studied.

Special requirements: Completed courses of at least 37.5 ECTS cr from year one of the Community Planning programme 180 ECTS cr, or equivalent.
