The module deals with the theoretical and methodological subject-specific teaching debates on the basis of a common core regarding different historical forms of knowledge, how history is produced and used. Current history education research to approach the use of history beyond education, conditions for teaching such curricula and teaching material, and practice-related research on teaching and learning.
Module 2 Historical theory, 7.5 ECTS cr
The module deals with the theoretical and methodological subject-specific teaching debates on the basis of a number of social science traditions of relevance to history research. The starting-point is a chronological survey of the emergence and development of history theory and research. Students discuss post-war functionalist and structuralist models and then address the postmodern challenge and the debates on source criticism, knowledge relativism, and the concept of truth. Students also prepare for the practical placement in school.
Module 3 Practical Placement II, 7.5 ECTS cr
Students have the opportunity to:
-use IT in school
-make classroom observations
-interpret and implement central steering documents and local pedagogical planning
-apply pedagogical and subject-specific teaching theories and translate subject knowledge into teaching material with consideration of pupils' different knowledge and interests
-consider the special education perspective
-practise their communicative skills in cooperation with different staff groups and pupils in school
-discuss the profession and their professional development and identify areas to develop in the third practical placement period.
Module 4 Modern Sweden, specialisation 7.5 ECTS cr
The module provides specialisation in the context of the political, social, and economic modern Swedish welfare state. The main features from 1920s till today are treated including a number of important turning-points and tendencies in the development, such as postwar planned economy, immigration, and individualisation processes.
